How to Join RIFTSo you’d like to join our little feral post-apocalyptic community? Great, we’re glad to have you! To make it easier, we’ll break down the best way to go about joining.
General Joining Summary1. Read the information threads.
2. Create a character
3. For werewolf characters, choose a Phase, Calling, Gift, and Pack.
4. Register an account for your character.
5. Fill out and post a biography.
6. You’re done! Come roleplay!
If any part of this confuses you, read the parts below for clarification. If you're still unsure of anything, PM Silvae or Skiecrow with any questions, or post them in the Q&A Forum.
1) Read the information threads labeled ‘Required Reading’. These can be found under ‘Navigation’ in the left-hand sidebar. Optionally, you can also read the threads labeled ‘Useful Links’. These will provide more complete information on the world of Rift.
2) Come up with a character idea, for either a werewolf or a human. Take a look at the
profile sheet to get a sense of what aspects of your character you need to figure out. The most important thing is to determine the character’s personality, and perhaps a basic idea of their history or role within the community. Characters who have a goal, relationships with other characters, and a role in the pack are the most fun to roleplay with. If you’re stuck for ideas, browse the
adoptables.
3) For werewolf characters: Based on the character you’ve come up with, choose a Phase for them. Phase refers to the moonphase under which the werewolf transformed for the first time, and reflects their personality while granting them certain powers and abilities. Information on Phases can be found
here. Based on this, you can choose a Gift for your werewolf. Gifts are special abilities and powers granted by a werewolf’s Phase. For more on Gifts, see
here.
4) For werewolf characters: Now choose a Calling for your character. A Calling dictates a werewolf’s overarching goal in life, and is inherited in their genes (for those born werewolves) or from the werewolf who infected them with lycanthropy. Callings often compete with a werewolf’s personality and Phase. More information on Callings is available
here.
5) For werewolf characters: Lastly, decide what pack your werewolf is in. This should be very easy, because at the moment there is only one pack, the Kahlite Pack. For your character’s rank, all first characters
of new members begin as a Kappa. If you would like your character to begin at a higher rank, PM Silvae or Skiecrow to request an exception. More on ranks can be found
here.
6) Register for an account. The account username should be the first name or pseudonym of your character, not the alias of the roleplayer.
7) Fill out the
profile sheet and post it in the character archives. You do not have to fill it out in its entirety; only fields marked in red are required.
8) Jump into the roleplay! There is no application/acceptance process at Rift: the moment you submit a biography or your character, it is automatically accepted. Be forewarned that your character may be charged with some kind of initiation task before they will be accepted into the pack.
